Click in this checkbox if you would like the Messenger window to be automatically minimized after the last message has been deleted from your inbox.

Store deleted messages in trash can folder
Click in this checkbox if you would like your deleted messages stored in the Trash Can Folder for a specified period of days before actually being deleted. If you make this preference, set your time period from 1 to 30 days in the field below.

After replying to message preferences

Messenger provides you with the following choices to save a copy of the messages that you send:
  • Save the message in the "Sent Messages" folder.
  • Save the message in a folder with the recipient's name.
  • Neither (o not save the sent message).

Set status to "available" at start-up
TimeSaver Tip! Click in this checkbox if you would like Messenger to automatically set your status in the In/Out Board of the Contacts Tab to "Available" when you start-up your computer. If you make this selection then you will not need to set your status to "available" at either the In/Out Board, or at the My Status feature. See the following topics for details on updating your status.

e-Mail integration
Click this button to provide the appropriate information necessary to configure Messenger for your preference on e-mail integration. You will be automatically taken to your account at the www.portalsxpress.com website. Follow the instructions provided at the website.

Messenger provides you with three ways to view your e-mail:
  • By using the Messenger program.
  • By using web-based e-mail, (such as www.portalsxpress.com)
  • By using your current e-mail program (such as MS-Outlook, Netscape Messenger, Eudora, etc.).

The choice is yours. The goal of Messenger is to work for you in a manner that compliments your daily activities. All three integration choices provide you with the main benefits and skills of Messenger, the permissions-based contact that allows you to control what individuals and addresses may send you mail, and the security of your electronic correspondence. Messenger can act as your instant messaging application or as your centralized electronic messaging application. In other words, along with allowing you to send instant messages to individual Contacts, you can also use it send and receive e-mail. Think of the benefit: Messenger is at work filtering out those unwanted e-mails before they even reach your inbox.
