Getting Started - Adding a New File

Use the "New Item" toolbar button to insert a new document (e.g., Word Document) into a folder. Simply highlight a folder in the left pane and click the down arrow for the New Item toolbar button. A drop-down menu will appear listing several document types. Make your selection (e.g., Microsoft Excel Worksheet). An Item Properties dialog will appear. Using this dialog, you can modify the document name and attach search terms to the document. Click the "OK" button and a copy of the document type (e.g., Microsoft Excel Worksheet) will be inserted into the highlighted folder. You are now ready edit the item. Simply double-click the item to load the document in its related application (e.g., Microsoft Word).

You can also insert existing files from your local or network drives into a folder using the Import toolbar button. Simply click the Import toolbar button. A dialog will appear to allow you to select the files to import. Navigate to the folders, select one more files, and click the "Open" button. The selected files will then transfer to your PortalsXpress account for shared access.
