Resource Manager Users Guide

Resource Manager Interface - Sharing Resources

Office Wide Groups are meant to allow the sharing of resources between departments. This is important when a workflow process involves more than one department. In order to allow another manager to use resources from another manager's department, the direct manager needs to put these resources into an Office-Wide Group.

Let's go through an example of this. First we will need to set up a department and a resource. Click on Your Departments and then right mouse click. Choose New Department. Go ahead and change the name to Test Department. Then click on Test Department. Right mouse click and choose New Resource. Change the name to Tester.

Now let's set up an Office Wide Group. Click on Office-Wide Groups and then right mouse click. Choose New Group. Rename the group to Global Systems Testing.

Now that we have both the resource and the office wide group set up, we need to share the resource. You can do this one of two ways.

  • can drag and drop Tester from the Test Department to the Global Systems Testing group.
  • You can right mouse click on Tester after you have highlighted the name and choose Copy as Shared. You can then highlight the Global Systems Testing group and right mouse click. Then choose Paste.

NOTE: After you have completed this tutorial you will want to delete these entries. You can do that by clicking on the resource or department name. Right mouse click and choose Delete.
